My Week So Far...

Has been crazy. It started off by me developing some type of stomach bug, took Monday off. Woke up feeling very crappy Tuesday but went into work until 1pm b/c I had so much to do. Slept all afternoon Tuesday. Went into work early yesturday and ended up leaving late. Was a good day though got lots of paperwork done.

Last night I cooked a yummy supper of Sizzled Citrus Shrimp (compliments of JillianMichaels.com) and a side of brown rice and yellow beans! Forgot to mention this - I joined a few weeks ago to see what the fuss was all about and wasn't too impressed, but I have a 3 month membership so I figure I can at least use the recipes!

I got my run in as planned even though it was 343543598 degrees out. When I got home and sat on the couch in front of the fan I remembered why I enjoy running.... I felt fantastic even amidst the sweat and sunblock grease!!!

Tonight gonna throw some steaks on the BBQ and have a side of ww pasta and some type of veggies. Exercise will consist of my walk home in the heat and then 30 mins on the elliptical tonight. Need to catch up on laundry in a big way and relax w/ an episode of Nip/Tuck!

My Running Plan

So the Natal Day Road Race is fast approaching and I've been slacking in the running department. In fact I haven't ran in over 2 weeks. Mainly due to the fact the even at night it's still humid. Well that is going to change.

I have a plan that starts tonight. 10 runs until the race!

07/16/2008 - 2 Miles (evening)
07/18/2008 - 2 Miles (morning - might not be so humid)
07/20/2008 - 2.5 Miles (morning)
07/22/2008 - 2.5 Miles (evening)
07/24/2008 - 2.5 Miles (morning)
07/26/2008 - 3 Miles (morning)
07/28/2008 - 3 Miles (evening)
07/30/2008 - 3 Miles (morning)
08/01/2008 - 3 Miles (evening)
08/03/2008 - 2 Miles (morning)
08/04/2008 - RACE!!

Baby Fever

Yup, recently I've been thinking about having a baby...

I need to lose the rest of this weight though. We have a plan to have our debt paid down and some money put away by January 2010. Then we can start trying....I definatly should be at goal weight by then, lol a year and a half from now......

Seems like such a long time away.....

Moncton Weekend

Moncton was fun!! We ended up making a weekend of it, the only problem was there was an antique car show and a huge soccer tournament so we couldn't find a decent a hotel. We ended up getting a family suite at the Coastal Inn. Was the WORST place I've ever stayed. Gross and smelled like stale smoke; service was horrible.

We spent a few hours at the zoo, which was awesome - all kinds of exotic anmials and tons of fun stuff if you're a kid! Checked into the hotel and then headed over to Champlain Place to browse the shops. Had supper at Swiss Chalet and then back to the hotel for a swim and some time in the sauna. Yesturday morning we had a disgusting breakfast in the hotel's restaurant (shoulda went up the road to Smittys or Coras) and headed back to NS. We ended up taking a detour over to Parrsboro where our friend Matt's parents camp seasonally. Had a quick visit and were back in the city by 6:00.

Foodwise did the best w/ the options available, am way up on the scale this morning but think a week of good eating and h20 will balance eveything out. We probably spent a good 3-4 hours walking around Saturday so I'm not that worried.

Overall was a great weekend w/ lots of laughs! I did end up w/ a really bad sunburn though and a bit of a dip into the credit cards.... a well such is life!

I took the day off b/c I'm not really feeling well, think I got too much sun. Been laying in bed w/ my lap top and just chatting on the phone.

Zoo Today!

Dinner at the Mongolie was great last night!! I'm still stuffed this morning. :-S

Today we're heading to New Brunswick w/ our friends to the Magnetic Hill Zoo. Should be an awesome day! Lots of driving but tons of cool animals so it works out! My plan is to pack healthy foods and load up the sunblock!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Early WI

Current Weight: 204.0
Start Weight: 286.5
Lost This Week: -1.0

Grr I hate the fact that I have to have an early WI thisclose to onederland. Whatever, I have an extra day to work out and eat healthy before next WI though. And ATLEAST I'm down :)

Work today, out to The Mongolie Grill w/ friends of Jason's from the bank. Should be a fun night.

Oh picked up the book "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser . I've been meaning to read this for awhile, kinda excited :)

A Few of my Favorite Things...

Liberté Méditerranée Yogurt!
To.Die.For. Thick & Creamy, almost cheesecakish. So yummy w/ my Kashi in the morning. I've tried the Moka and Lemon so far and they're both awesome. I tend to have a small serving (about half the suggested) b/c they're a little higher in cals/fat than most. But SO much better than the Source or Silhouette FF/SF yogurt. I'm never going back! :) Web

Fresh Cherries
OMG I've been pigging out of these babies for a few weeks now. I didn't realize how sick I was of apples and oranges.

Nature's Path Vanilla Animal Cookies
They've replaced the Kashi crackers that had been a staple in my lunch for a long time. Web
PC Curry Mayo Sandwich Spread
I've been using this product on my sandwiches, in cold pasta salad, potato salads and sadly, in replacement of ketchup. (Which is now banned from my house b/c of the sodium content and the fact that we were going through a bottle every 2 weeks!) Web

Quick Check In

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I'm doing ok, getting in lots of veggies and fruit this week.

We were supposed to go to the gym last night but instead we went shopping.;-p I don't feel too bad thought b/c I finally found a strapless bra that I needed to go w/ the dress for my friend's wedding. I also picked up a nice shower gift as well!

I will hit up the elliptical tonight. The scale is working in favor again this week too!

I didn't make it all the way through Pasta Queen's book yet, but what I've read so far has been great - inspiring and funny! Anyone blogging their journey of weight loss and health should defiantly check it out! Plus it's really cool to read her book after checking in on her blog on a regular basis!

The Sun is Shining!

Another beautiful day here in Nova Scotia. Love waking up to the sunshine! My week is going well so far. Eating has been fine and have gotten in lots of exercise over the past several days. Tonight we're going to the gym after work - will be nice to work out in the air conditioning.

Not much is new at all, I got Pasta Queen's book, Half-Assed in the mail yesturday (had to order it online.) Got a good start into it last night and will likely devour the rest of it this evening.

We're going out to dinner Friday night so I have to WI that morning b/c I know without a doubt that I will retain after eating at a restaurant. I hate having to WI early but whatever. :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Awesome Weekend!

This weekend flew by but it was really great.

We spent all day Saturday at Victoria Park. Started off w/ a healthy picnic lunch and walked around tons of the trails, saw a few waterfalls and just enjoyed the day together. It was really hot too so it was quite a work out especially going up Jacob's Ladder - 185 steps, which we did not once but twice!! I swear going up that thing reminded me of the kind of challenges they have on biggest loser! It felt good to be out and so active. The huge amount of energy I have still amazes me! We decided not to stay over in Truro (we'd rather be in our own bed) and ended up stopping in and having supper w/ my Mom (my Dad's currently away.) Got home to find a new lawnmower in the backyard from bossman. Earlier in the week I had been complaining that our's died... and now I can mow the lawn again. Which I'm going to do in a few. How nice of him though! I've been trying to get ahold of him to thank him but no luck.

This morning my friend called around 9am and asked if I wanted to hit up the playground w/ her and her toddler daughter. It was so much fun running around after her, got to go on a few slides and swings!! heheh I'm kinda getting that baby fever feeling again too :)

This afternoon Jas & I watched the movie "Untraceable" which was pretty good, kinda gross but overall good. It was still really hot today so I forced him to come to the lake with me, where I had a really quick but so refreshing swim! We had a a yummy treat of fish & chips for supper and now I'm just working on my budget for a bit then going out to get the lawn done!

Back to work tomorrow!

A few pics...

Me w/ Madison at the playground this AMVICTORIA PARK
Jas climbing Jacob's Ladder... the railing you see at the top of the pic is a resting point, there's still more stairs to go, you just can't see them in the pic!

Better pic of the falls!

View from one of the trails - we were so high up! Such a gorgeous hike though.

Feeling the Stress

In a MAJOR way. It sucks, but I just don't have the time for everyone anymore. I'm getting annoyed by certain people who can't seem to grasp that my workload has increased by 1000% and that I'm not out to get them when I cancel a visit or can't phone. I can sense a lot of tension between us now and I do try to make an effort I'm just getting sick of trying. Advice?

ARG!

Anyways, it's Friday. :) Still down on the scale this morning, hoping for some good results tomorrow morning. I got in a nice walk home yesturday and then spent some time mowing last night.

I have a fun weekend planned for Jason & I. We're heading up to Victoria Park in Truro for an awesome hike that includes a few waterfalls. Trying to book a hotel/BB in the area too, just to make it a weekend getway!

I snuck a peek at the scale this morning and I'm waaaaaaay down from last week :) Now I just need to be good until Saturday morning!!

Oh and I just paid off a huge chunk of my cc debt, I feel so awesome right now!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

NY's Resolutions - 6 Month Recap!

Thanks to Angie for reminding me to catch up on my 2008 New Years Resolutions. I think I've made some progress!!

1. Improve My Fitness - 100% - in a majour way. Ran my first 5K in May and I can clean the house, walk up and down the stairs and bring groceries in from the car without breaking into a sweat. I find I don't really sweat anymore unless it's on purpose. Last summer I was dying w/ the humidity and now it's not so bad, infact I'm often chilly.

2. Take a Class w/ Hubby -25% - We have couples personal training once a month. Hope to actually take some sort of class together in the Fall.

3. Adopt a More Organic Lifestyle - 75% - have definatly spent more time in the Organics/Health food section of the grocery store but don't buy everything organic. Make an effort too though!

4. Continue My Education - 100% - Completed Small Business Development training from SMU this past Winter.

5. Save - 50% - We started investing for the future. Since Jason works for Scotiabank we invest in bank stock on a bi-weekly basis. We've built up a nice little bit already since January! Credit cards have started to come down as well. Plus a few weekends ago we planned out the next 1.5 years financially - in order to get a lot of our high interest debt paid down before we start a family. I'm feeling a lot more confident about this then I was 6 months ago. Helps that I got a nice raise too :)

6. Better Organize the House - 0% - Yup, still can't find the time to manage everything. :(

7. Keep Up My Appearance - 50% - I'll be honest I'm starting to really enjoy clothes and SHOES! Have been doing something with my hair during the week days and not just tying it back. I'm a work in progress though!

8. Work on Relationships - 50% - I make an effort to catch up w/ the important people and lol, avoid calls from the folks who stress me out.

9. Expand the Family (and think) - Get a puppy and then go from there. - 0% - Although, we have lots of plants that Jason nurtures quite well.....

10. Stay Happy - 25% - Had a really depressing Winter and then the whole work/boss' wife passing away. Really hasn't been the best time in my life BUT the whole situation has forced me to have a better outlook on life!

PS - This is my first official post from my cool new PINK LAPTOP!!! hehehe

Week Half Over!!

Love the fact that it's Wednesday already! I'm making some fun plans for the weekend - hiking/waterfalls!

Yesterday was great. The weather turned out to be pretty nice too, which was good since we had my Fam over for a BBQ. I ate as planned, except for a few mussels and half a glass of wine. Jason and I had been playing Guitar Hero (new Aerosmith one!) when everyone arrived and my Mom (of all people) decided she wanted to try it out. She LOVED it and spent a good part of the afternoon dancing around my living room to the game :) hehe.

Last night Jason and I gathered up 7 bags of used clothing that had been sitting in our spare room. 5 of the bags were full of my old clothes. I FINALLY got rid of all the 24,22,20 and 18's and it FELT FANTASTIC to drop them in the bin for the Diabetes Association. I think part of me was hanging on to them 'incase' but ***drumroll*** I AM NO LONGER AFRAID OF THAT!!!! I will never fit into those sizes again! I looked over them all before I bagged them and it was quite empowering! Size 14 here I come!!!

I just realized that this weekend will mark one full year of me living the "healthy lifestyle." I can't believe I did it and really made the change. I'm so proud of myself!!

A few pics from yesterday!

Me, boozin' it up :) lol

Mom & I playing Guitar Hero!

The Mini Black Forest Cakes that made.... Approx 320cals per cake.

Brrrr

It's gross and kinda warm but damp here in NS. I HATE weather like this, everything is moist and sticky. My weekend was tiring and high-caloric. I attempted to have KFC Saturday night but it was SOOO greasy that it made me sick and I couldn't even keep it down. I haven't had KFC in a good four years and now I remember why. No beer though. Yesterday we got home late afternoon and opted to pick up a pizza. Yup my food choices were terrible - I had a coffee in the morning and then pizza for supper. No snacks or other meals. The plus side is that I burnt LOADS of calories going up and down the all the flights of stairs w/ heavy boxes!

Eating well today, loads of h20 and plan on hittin' up my elliptical tonight. I'm sure I'll be fine for the rest of the week and am going to pay extra attention to my foods so that I can have a good loss this week.

My exercise plan for the week is:
running outside x 2 (tues & sat)
ellipitcal at home x 2 (tonight & thurs)
gym x 2 (wed & fri)

Tomorrow we're having my family over for a BBQ. My Dad's going away for 2 weeks so it's a belated Father's Day/Going Away/Canada Day thingy. My plan is to make a curried potato salad and attempt a "healthy" version of my Dad's favorite, Black Forest cake. I will post pics/recipe if it turns out diet friendly!

It's Friday!!

So glad the weekend is almost here! Has been a very long work week.

A few things to share:

1. I am wearing olive colored cords today that make my legs and rear look marvelous, hehehe :) Can't remember the last time I wore cords either!! I picked up a few things at Value Village last night including those, a nice shirt and an awesome dress coat - all Reitman's brand. Again the clothes from that store always look good on me! The best part, only $35! It's nice to be able to buy good quality used clothing while you're losing weight.

2. Have promised Lori a truck and our assistance this weekend as she moves out of the apartment that her and her ex and his new g/f currently share. (Don't even get me started on that whole situation.) Her new apartment is on the 3rd floor and the new building has no elevators, so I'll be getting quite a decent workout from all the stairs. Plan to indulge in some pizza and a few beer tomorrow evening though!

3. I got an awesome gym-quality elliptical and treadmill on loan from my boss; delivered to my basement earlier this week! We have them until he wants them back, he was happy not to have to put them in storage. I worked out last night for 30 mins on the elliptical (instead of gym as planned) and wow holy sweat! I LOVE having nice exercise equipment in my house; having the option to go the gym, go for a run or work out at home is so great!

Have a wonderful Friday ladies!!!

Grr...

I am SO disappointed. I called my doctor's office to make a follow up appointment (had an ultrasound of my liver last week - she thought the Lipitor was irritating it,) and turns out she's gone. Yesterday was her last day b/c her husband is in the military and they got posted to BC. I only had been a patient for about a year but she was the BEST. I had tons of issues w/ my previous MD (See: New Doctor for Curvy Girl) and was so happy to have found someone that actually took an interest in doing what was right for my health.

*Sighs* now what? I got an appointment w/ another physician in the clinic for next week but unfortunately he's a man ;-P and I much prefer to have a female family physician. Apparently they have a new one starting at the end of August; I'm crossing my fingers that she's as good as Doctor Ullmark.

Other than that not much to report. Hit up the gym last night and have the same planned for tonight. Having a LOOOOONG day today and feel a tad grumpy :)

Quick Check In

Got out for a run last night. Wasn't too bad considering I hadn't ran in a month or so. I need to build up my endurance again though. I was out for 40 mins and ran for 20 of it. I was pretty happy with that and am motivated for the Natal Day run in August!

Tonight we're off to the gymbo. Am thinking of doing a mix of cardio equip - 10 mins on the bike, elliptical, treadmill, rower and maybe stairmaster :-p. We have a few errands to run this evening too, so we'll probably end up grabbing Subway for supper. Am going to pick up my reward for getting under 210lbs - Pasta Queen's book "Half Assed," looking forward to reading it this weekend!

Oh and some exciting news to share, I booked our trip down to the Blomidon Inn (my reward from my Mom for getting under 200lbs.) Decided to take a long weekend, and booked the 19, 20, 21st of September. I'm so busy these next 2 months, there's no way I can manage to get away anytime sooner. The valley is just gorgeous in September and I'm really looking forward to it. Plus I plan on being well under 200lbs by than so I will have loads to celebrate!!

Have a great day!!

Morning Girlies, Happy Monday!!

This weekend was great. Friday night we had an amazing session with our trainer, burned tons of cals!! Saturday we got the house tidied, lots of yard work done, groceries, meals made for the week and then relaxed for the night. Yesterday I spent the morning w/ my Mom, helping her set up her IPod and then went over to our friend's place for dinner. Was really yummy, he's an awesome cook!! The food wasn't the best calorie-wise but I ate small portions of it all - brushetta chicken breast w/ pizza pasta, garlic cheese bread. and didn't even have to turn down dessert, which was "Decadent Peanut Butter Dessert" - very yummy ice cream cake that included peanut butter and white chocolate. This recipe is NOT diet/WW's friendly (approx 400 cals/serving) but was one of the best desserts that I've ever had.

Tonight, depending on my work schedule/weather I'm either going to hit up the gym or go for a run. Plan on getting a good work out to help burn off last night's indulgence! On the menu today is oatmeal, yummy Broccoli & Cheese soup (recipe compliments of the lovely Jen!) and chicken alfredo w/ loads of veggies and some ww pasta!

I finally did manage to get some silver shoes for the wedding too. I'm not sure if I'm entirely satisfied and will probably still check around more before I leave for Newfoundland.

Off for some coffee, have a lovely day ladies!

Definitely Back in the Game!!!!

Current Weight: 207.6
Start Weight: 286.5
Lost This Week: -2.8

Yup, I had a busy but fantastic week! It feels so awesome to have my gym routine back!!! I just can't believe how close to onederland I am! :)

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Oh Yah, Back on the Train!!

Well girlies, I finally feel 100% officially back in the game! We hit up the gym last night, cooked a nice healthy supper, made our lunches and went to bed at 9:30pm (no night time eating!!) and it was WONDERFUL!! I woke up this morning feeling very optimistic about the next 40 lbs (and beyond...) I'm very relieved.

No real plans for tonight, just cook a nice supper and relax. I'm trying not to make too many plans for the weekend either, but I am going to get out and find some silver shoes. I made the appointment to have my dress altered and I have to have the shoes (and bra...which is a whole other pain in the ass!) with me when I go for the fitting. I'm hoping the bride will come with me and we can make an afternoon of it. Need to pick up some sparkly jewelry too.

Hope everyone's having a wonderful week!

Night Time Eating

I've been struggling with eating at night these past several weeks. I never had this problem before but I realized that was b/c I was going to the gym after work and then eating Supper around 7:30 instead of 5:00 and wasn't hungry or bored when I did this.

So we packed the gym bags & snacks and are finally getting back to the gym today. I'm excited and can't wait to have this final part of my routine back. I'm going to attempt to the hit the gym Tuesdays, Thursdays & Weekends. I also have to get back into running as I signed up for the Natal Day Road Race, which is August 4th. Everything seems to be settling down though and I'm so glad.

Anywho, back to work now!

Forest Fires and Such...

So I had a bit of a crazy weekend. Friday night we went out w/ Jason's branch to The Argyle for Supper. (Was yummy and mostly healthy, will do a review later) When we came out we heard all these news reports that Porter's Lake had been evacuated and all roads were closed due to huge forest fires. At its largest the fire stretched 15km by 3.5kms.

We had no idea what was going on. I couldn't get a hold of anyone so we ended up staying at our friend's place in Halifax. Saturday the roads were still closed and the fires were still going strong, so we headed out to out to Bayers Lake and stocked up on the essentials. Got these "City Shorts" from Reitmans, LOVE that store so much - everything seems to look good on me! Ended up getting home late Saturday night via back roads, the trip took approx 2.5 hours when I should've taken 30 mins. Was the smoke in the sky even crazy!! Our road was fine though but there's tons of burnt out trees only 2-3 mins away. They started to open a few roads this morning but not the main highway, so Jas took a vacation day. We're open for business but since the highway is still closed, its been pretty quite. I had to run an errand this morning and drove through one of the areas that was badly damaged, was really creepy to see and SO close to many homes. We're very lucky that the wind was blowing the other direction and our road wasn't in danger.

I didn't have my scale w/ me on Saturday morning so I'm using my WI that I did on Friday morning, of 210.4 lbs. I didn't get a chance to track my food this weekend, the power was on/off all day and so was the internet, plus I picked a lot. (I had frozen yogourt for breakfast on Sunday..... I should be reprimanded for that, lol!) Anyways sticking to everything this week and hope to finally be under 210 this coming Saturday!

Current Weight: 210.4
Start Weight: 286.5
Lost This Week: -1.4

I'm crossing my fingers that I can finally make it back to the gym this afternoon. I've managed to get caught up on a lot of work already this morning so I should be able to get out of here on time!

Hope everyone has an awesome Monday!

Working on Getting Focused

I'm slowly getting back into the "Me" mode. I've made an effort to get my butt out and exercise, and it feels good. Food wise I'm doing okay too. The scale is being quite favorable this morning as well...! All I really had to do was have a pep talk with myself; thought about what I really want.

In general I'm a tad grouchy b/c our car is on its last legs and I'm going to have to try and make time to go out and buy a new car in the middle of all this. Plus one of my good friends is getting married in August and I'm trying to plan her shower etc and it's just not happening the way I want it to.

However, it's gorgeous out today already and I'm feeling good again in my new clothes, so I guess there's lots to be thankful for (oh and its pay day too, lol!)

Feeling a Bit More Like Me

I feel hot today. I'm wearing one of my new shirts and my patent leather heels. I'm starting to feel girly finally, I like it! (Excuse the blurryness of the pic)
The past few days have been okay. I had pizza last night for supper though but we did get out for a nice walk on the local trail, plus the rest of my day was fruits & veggies and loads of h20. I haven't really been too off w/ my calories, there was just a lot of convenience food over the past several weeks. I feel like I've got the exercise routine back too, which is a relief - a run is in order for tonight

In other exciting news, I ordered a new toy that should be arriving next week:
My new pink laptop & mouse, lol.

The Reality - My WI

Current Weight: 211.8
Start Weight:
286.5
Lost This Week:
+1.4

OK, this hurts but I suspected I would be up so I'm dealing and moving on. I don't think I'm as active as I need to be with the calories that I'm eating. Before when I was going to the gym and running a lot I could eat what I ate this week and lose. Obviously brisk walking a few times a week isn't cutting it. We're attempting to get back to the gym this week, although I'm not looking forward to the 4:30am wake-up. We're gonna do that on Tuesday/Thursday. I NEED to get back out running, it's been a week and a half.

A Little Retail Therapy....

What started off as a simple trip to find silver heels (for my friend's wedding this August) turned into a full day of browsing the malls solo. Was great actually; I wandered as I pleased. I went to 6 shoe stores and have yet to find a decent pair of silver heels/sandals. The dress is navy blue not sure why I can't wear a black heel but... bride's decision. Such a pain though :-p

Me... after a hard day of shopping :) HOLY BAGS UNDER THE EYES. Wow those long days are apparently getting to me. Yesterday was brutal, I left work at 6pm (got in at 7am) and went back over around 9pm to check on things - we have a big job going out today. I have been working my ass off though and it feels good but I'm exhausted, Obviously.
A few new shirts, really love the one in the middle w/ the belt!
Some pants, all size 16. Still amazes me that a year ago I was a in tight 24's :)
Finally got the new Sophie Kinsella book and a few others, plus some cheapo sunglasses from Retitmans! I can't wait to relax with the books!

June Action Plan

In an effort to get totally back in the groove I'm making an action plan. This past month has been total shit. I'd just started my new plan and my game was back and this happened.

One-Year Anniversary (July 9) - is only 5 WI's away. I'd love to be around 200-205 lbs by then. This seems attainable.

June Exercise Challenge - I will aim for 20 stickers again. But I also want to aim for 40 km of running. That's only two 5K's per week. Jason and I were talking about trying to get to the gym by 5:30 am to work out before work; think this might work but only once or twice a week since we'd be getting up at 4:45am - yuck.

Living Life to the Fullest - Remember that my health IS important and the effort I make each day is WORTH IT! Make sure I do one thing each day to better my life.

So that sums up my mindset for June.

Life Goes On

I want to go on record and confess that I didn't track my food all weekend AND I still over ate quite a bit. The exercise has all been non-existent since Wednesday. My pants feel tight this morning. So I'm snapping out of this, for real. My scale is hidden away until next Monday. I'm opting not to hop on and see the damaged b/c at this point I feel that it won't help the situation. I AM taking control though and not letting this sabotage my success so far.

Today I'm eating:
Breaky - apple cinnamon oatmeal w/ apple sauce & flax seed, coffee w/ milk & sugar

Lunch - chicken sandwich, cucumber & green pepper, yogourt cups

Supper - steak w/ veggie omelet, toast

Snacks - animal crackers, apple, popcorn

Happy Hump Day!

So after my weekend of drinking/junk food I'm finally back down to my last WI weight of 210 on the scale. This is quite a relief and gives me a few more days before my next WI (hopefully I see a loss!)

1. I have set a new long-term goal - To lose another 40 lbs and be at 170 in time for my 26th birthday. December 6 - which is approx 6 months away. It is very possible!

2. I have a new addiction - PC Waffle Cones
I have been having having these w/ frozen yogurt every night. There's just something about spring and BBQ season that makes me crave ice cream! These are an awesome treat and not too harsh on the calorie budget either!

3. Exercise-wise I know my gym membership will not be used much this summer. My hectic work schedule makes it easier to just got dropped off here in the morning and walk home. I've accpeted that and have kept up w/ exercise 3-4 days/week - running/walking. Plus the yardwork keeps me active as well. I do miss the strength training/spin classes and will resume those when the time is right.

Ugh Mondays...

Yesterday was great - got in lots of veggies, h20; went for a 5k run and spent half of the afternoon doing yard work. Now for some reason this morning I'm nauseated and feel like I've been ran over by a truck. Seems like every muscle in my body is sore and my stomach is just in knots. Even my coffee is not appealing.... wonder if I caught some type of bug.

Hopefully this doesn't last long b/c weather-wise this week looks awesome - lots of sun and warm temps in the forecast!

Here's to a great week gals!!

I Remembed Why I Don't Drink

Yup, I'm totally fine without having alcohol in my life (minus the occasional glass of wine or two.) The evening started off great but I got caught up in the "all you can drink for 2 hours" and ended up drinking waaaay too much in that time. Yesterday was the first time I've been hung-over since I was 17. It was not pleasant. It also may have involved 2 McDonald's cheeseburgers. I ended up canceling lunch w/ my grandmother and my training session, Yes it really was that bad.

Anyways got lots of sleep and am feeling mostly better today. Pouring the h2o and coffee into the system. For breakfast I had a salad and a banana. I'm going to attempt to go out for a run this afternoon if I'm not napping. I guess I'm getting too old to party :)

Oh and this morning I officially signed up for the Natal Day Road Race. It's only a 2 miler so it will be pretty easy. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!!

GOOD LUCK TODAY AMY!!!!

Here's a few pics from the night -

Exhausted.

All these extra hours at work, trying to keep up with the house and exercise have made for a very tired Lynn.

I got home yesturday and opted to lay in bed all night and watch TV. I was not in the mood to cook so we got a pizza - which I may have over-indulged in. Opps. Moving on though! No way in hell I was going to WI this morning with all that sodium in my system so I'm coping out and waiting until next Saturday for my WI. That's the way life goes; I'm not worried about missing one WI, in fact I'm a bit excited for a larger loss next week!

I decided to take a half of a vacation day and leave work at Noon today. I have so much stuff to get done. Tonight we're going out to the Brewery (and of course its raining.... and I'm not really looking forward to it too much at this point) and then at 10am tomorrow we have a training session at the gym until 11:30am (BTW gym, what gym? Haven't been in 3 weeks....) and then I'm meeting up w/ my cousin so that we can take my grandmother out for lunch at Noon. So if I decided to drink, I will most likely end up hung over... making both the training and visit w/ my Nan umm fun?... :)

Sorry to be such a crank today, it is Friday though so here's to a fantastic one!!

Chilled to the Bone!

Well it's such a dreary day here...chilly, rainy and gray. I'm freezing yet again. I seem so cold all the time, wonder if it's weight loss related? Think I will take tonight to catch up on a some shows that I've missed over the last few weeks and maybe get a load of laundry done.

I got in a great run last night, 5K around my neighborhood. I tried to stick to the pavement as much as possible (as opposed to the side of the road which is so much easier!) and purposely chose a route with lots of hills. It was hard but I stuck to the 10:1 routine and it seemed to work well for me!!

The week is half over already! Yah!!!. Friday night we're going to a Keith's Brewery promo event for their new lager. It's all you can drink for 3 hours. We're going with a huge group from Scotiabank (and my gal Lori, my bro & his g/f.) Should be a good time, we're going out to dinner first and then to the brewery.

Anyways, calorie-wise I'm on track, scale still shows me up a pound, but I've been craving salty food lately so that's why. I'm sure I can get rid of it by Friday morning though. (Have to WI early due to brewery night and being away from home.)

Have a great day!

The Addiction Has Started....

I now have 2 more runs lined up: On August 4th I'm doing the Natal Day Road Race (just the 2 Miler b/c I didn't think I could pull off training for a 6 miler in 2.5 months!) and then the CIBC Run For The Cure 5K on October 5th. My plan is to train hard all Winter and then complete the 10K in next year's Blue Nose Marathon! I really enjoyed Sunday and can see how people become addicted to running :)

The rest of my weekend went well, got lots of cleaning done yesturday and then caught up on Desperate Housewives. The season finale was AWESOME!!!

Now I feel lazy and don't want to be at work though :-P Hope everyone has a wonderful (short) week!

Crossed That Finish Line!!!!

So the run was fantastic! In all I really honestly can't tell you gals how happy I am; I can't believe how far I've come in less than a year. I thought I was gonna to cry when I made it through the finish line....instead I ended up up-chucking the small amount of Gatorade I drank a km back.:-S No, really, I crossed the finish line and about 5 seconds later.... But I got my medal and that's all the matters :) My time was a tad slow b/c I haven't been running on pavement just the side of the road/subdivision. I completed the run in 41:24, which I'm fine with. I'm going to continue to train over the summer and hope to see an improvement for the Run For The Cure 5K in the fall.

I got to meet up with lovely Angie and Tash before hand! I felt a bit nervous earlier that morning but once we meet it was like we already knew each other. As most of you know this was both Angie's and my first run and I was so excited and giddy, the waiting was so slow too. But we DID it!!

Angie and I meeting for the first time!

No actual pics of me crossing the finish line yet, but I should be able to buy them online soon! All in all an AWESOME day!!!

It's Here!!

So the day has finally arrived!! Months of hard work are going to be put to the test and I AM SO PUMPED!! I'm so nervous I feel like I have to pee, lol (but I don't! weird huh...hope this feeling goes away soon!

Good News: There is NO rain in sight only gorgeous SUNSHINE!!

Plus I'm meeting the lovely Angie and maybe Tash too!!! Can't wait to check in with everyone later!

Last Run Before the Blue Nose!!

So this is what I did this evening (when it finally stopped raining.) FYI: Never wear different sneakers than you're used to... my feet are sore. Plus I wore a diff coat (a fleece one since it was chilly out) and I was SO hot by the time I got home. And it was windy and the route I chose was very hilly. But I did it. Yah!!!

My WI - Holy Sh*t!

Current Weight: 210.0
Start Weight:
286.5
Lost This Week:
-3.4

Dow 3.4lbs.... where is this coming from??? WOW, what an awesome way to start my exciting weekend!!!

All I can say is that lately I've been all about the veggies - pumpkin in my morning oatmeal, greek salad every day for lunch, grilled veggies and a salad of some type for supper. I'm defiantly stocking up for next week if this is the result.

Anywho.... made it over to get up my race kit (which includes my chip, paper bib thingy w/ my number and name, a BRIGHT yellow shirt - unsure if I'm going to wear it tomorrow or not, and loads of other swag) and view the Active Living Expo. Took the ferry both ways and had a chance to enjoy the sunshine and harbour. Was great, I picked up a few things: new h20 bottle w/ the Bluenose logo, a pair of red laces for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign (for every pair that crosses the finish line Scotiabank donates $ to the cause,) Running Room socks & a hat. Plus I got all kinda of info on Team Diabetes, which is something that I've been seriously considering for awhile... since its a cause close to me - both my Dad and I have diabetes so it only makes sense. The problem is the fund raising amounts are so high and I'm not sure I have the time right now for that type of commitment. Maybe once work settles down.

I will update after the run tomorrow, hopefully w/ pics!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful looooooooooooong weekend!!!!

And It Begins....

So excited for the weekend, its unreal!! Got my bib # this morning and tonight I'm going to pick up my race kit. I kinda want to take the afternoon off work to go over and do that, plus I need new headphones (figures they'd go all crackily now) and a few other items. I really can't be any more excited than I am now, lol... is it bad to say that I'm more excited than I was at my wedding or prom?! :)

My plan is to get in a run tomorrow even if it's raining. Hopefully it will let up a bit and I will get out there....even the evil, change-on-a-moments-notice Nova Scotia weather seems to be cooperating for Sunday though!
